Full Time Position - PG County Government

TAPS Student Employee Positions

The Transportation & Parking Services Office would like to hire a few students for the upcoming academic year. These student employees will be trained on enforcement and review procedures as well as troubleshooting of minor equipment issues. Here are some additional details of the position:

The Transportation and Parking Services office manages parking at the Universities at Shady Grove. As part of this parking program, we provide enforcement for campus parking lots and garages and we offer an appeals process for individuals who wish to contest parking citations. We are currently hiring a couple student as enforcement officers and citation reviewers.

The ideal student will be thoughtful, fair, and eager to take advantage of a few hours of employment at the Universities at Shady Grove. The student must be available to work up to 5 hours on weekends (either Saturday or Sunday depending on scheduling).

Although we can't know how many hours of work will be available, it is likely that the position will require 5-8 hours of work per week. The time commitment will be a function of how many appeals there are on any given week. The pay rate is $10 per hour and the TAPS office is in Building II.

Fall Monitoring and Countering Threats to the US Judicial System Internships with CSIS


The Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) is a non-profit, bipartisan public policy organization established in 1962 to provide strategic insights and practical policy solutions to decision makers concerned with global security and prosperity. Over the years, it has grown to be one of the largest organizations of its kind, with a staff of some 200 employees, including more than 120 analysts working to address the changing dynamics of international security across the globe.
JOB SUMMARY:
CSIS seeks one full-time intern to support the International Security Program (ISP) on administrative issues and general research efforts pertaining to the monitoring of threats to the U.S. judicial system, including the courts, prosecutors, and the rule of law from foreign adversaries via cyber activities, disinformation spread by social media and other channels, and influence operations. The intern will also work on strategies to counter those efforts. Additionally, the intern will focus on more general global security challenges. Key research areas include defense relations between the United States and other countries, emerging threats and challenges to U.S. national security, United States force posture and global force management, and overall national security policies. Because of the fast-paced work environment, interns should be motivated self-starters that enjoy a wide variety of research, analytic, and logistical task work.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential functions may include, but are not limited to the following:
• Assisting with the monitoring of threats to both the U.S. judicial system and foreign judicial systems, including the courts, prosecutors, and the rule of law, from foreign adversaries via cyber activities, propaganda, and social media postings. Additionally, assisting with the development of strategies to counter such efforts. 
• Assisting with monitoring developments in the national security arena: U.S. defense and security policy, emerging threats, U.S. response options, and foreign policy positions of U.S. allies and partners. 
• Assisting in event planning and staffing.
• Spot and background research. 
• Assisting with ongoing projects examining functional security issues than span across regions.
• Researching and authoring short publications.

Qualifications

• Applicants must at least be a Junior at an undergraduate institution. Preference for recent graduates of a Bachelors or Masters program in international relations, security studies, cybersecurity or related field. Law school student or recent law school graduate with an interest in national security issues are also encouraged to apply. 
• Proficiency with Microsoft suite highly desirable.
• Must have at least a 3.3 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) from an accredited U.S. institution or equivalent from a non-U.S. institution.
• Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills. 
• Experience with foreign and security policy research; ability to distill and synthesize information. 
• Ability to work independently.

Participants will learn the signs, symptoms, and prevention techniques to end Child Sexual Abuse including mandated reporting for Prince George's County.
