$1,000 Scholarship for Study Abroad to China


China groupWant to learn/improve your Chinese speaking and writing skills? Join the study abroad program this summer and receive a $1,000 scholarship!

This course will provide students with intensive language classes, culture courses, and excursions to cities and sites that bear the mark of Confucius to know better China's greatest sage.

Private Detective Agency Seeking Applicants for Full Time and Part Time Positions


A Maryland based private detective agency is seeking applicants for  full and part time positions.  Everyone starts out part time and the full time positions are earned based on performance.  The agency specializes in insurance fraud and related investigations.  Below are some details about the agency and the position.

§ The agency works for doctors, hospitals, defense attorneys, and insurance carriers.
§ The position is primarily responsible for conducting video surveillance of individuals who have filed a claim alleging injury.
§ The agency is willing to train new employees from the ground up.
§ The agency will supply all equipment necessary to complete the job.

§ The training period is three weeks and during the training period new employees will learn how to set up and conduct mobile surveillance and obtain video evidence.
§ The initial three week training program is free and  the agency does not collect any fees, but the applicant is not on payroll and will not be paid for the training.
§ Once the applicant has successfully completed the three week course, they will be added to payroll and training will continue.
§ Full time, first year investigators will have a compensation package in the mid 40’s to low 50’s
§ Applicants must have a reliable vehicle that blends in
§ The applicant must be able to work at a variety of times.
§ The applicant must be able to work independently.

INTELLIGENCE-LAW ENFORCEMENT SIMULATION COMPETITION - MARCH 21, 2015

The Applied Information Technology Department and Learning Center at GMU are co-sponsoring an Intelligence-Law Enforcement Simulation Competition on Saturday, March 21, 2015 from 1-5 pm. This event will focus on Mexico and national security concerns regarding the instability and violence in this region. 

After the holidays, there will be follow-up emails regarding participation in this event to be held on the GMU Prince William campus in Manassas in Verizon Auditorium. There is ample and free parking at this campus on Saturdays. 


If you are interested in attending this event or in entering a team, please advise Dr. Kimberly Urban by February 13, 2015 to kurban@gmu.edu. Teams may consist of undergraduate and/or graduate students. Also, students graduating in December 2014 are eligible to compete in this event. Panelists/judges will consist of Intelligence Community and Law Enforcement professionals.
