The CCJS Honors Program is a unique opportunity for
undergraduate CCJS majors to challenge themselves academically. The
Honors Program is comprised of small, interactive and rigorous courses taught
by Dr. Maimon, a distinguished CCJS tenured faculty member. In addition
to Dr. Maimon, students will have contact with the tenured/tenure-track CCJS
faculty, who are some of the most well-respected researchers in the field of
Criminology and Criminal Justice.
Students graduating from our Honors Program receive a
departmental honors notation on their diploma and have the opportunity to add
a very unique experience to their resumes. Many of the CCJS Honors
Program graduates are currently attending ivy league graduate and law
schools, including Harvard Law School, Georgetown Law, and the UMD CCJS
doctoral program. Additionally, some Honors students have moved on to
careers with agencies such as the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Homeland
Security and Teach For America.
Requirements for admission into the CCJS Honors Program include:
§ A cumulative GPA of at
least a 3.25
§ A minimum 3.40 GPA in
all CCJS major coursework
§ Satisfactory
completion of CCJS 100 and CCJS 105
§ Students must present
evidence of satisfactory writing
§ Student is entering
their Junior year
§ At least 3 full
semesters remaining at the University of Maryland prior to graduation
§ A declared CCJS major

This program offers U.S. citizen undergraduate and graduate
students the opportunity to participate in 10-week, unpaid internships that
provide intensive educational and professional experience within the
environment of America’s principle foreign affairs agency.
The unpaid internships are available at many of the over 270 U.S. embassies, consulates and missions to international organizations around the world, as well as at the Department of State in Washington, D.C. and other locations throughout the U.S. Participants gain first-hand, hands-on experience, and learn the realities of working in – and with – Foreign and Civil Service professionals who are at the forefront of America’s diplomatic efforts. As an unpaid intern, you may have the opportunity to:
§ Participate in
meetings with senior level U.S. government or foreign government officials;
§ Draft, edit, or
contribute to cables, reports, communications, talking points, or other
materials used by policy makers in furthering U.S. foreign policy objectives;
§ Help organize and
support events, including international and/or multi-lateral meetings and
conferences on critical global issues;
§ Contribute to the
management and administration of the Department of State and America’s
foreign policy; and
§ Engage directly with
U.S. or foreign audiences to promote U.S. foreign policy and improve

Paid Internships at the Interagency Council on Homelessness
|
USICH is seeking interns to support its work on behalf of the
nation’s efforts to end homelessness. There are currently multiple intern
positions available across the various teams at USICH, including our Policy,
National Initiatives, Communications and Executive Office Teams. Assignments
may include but are not be limited to:
§ Researching and
compiling of information, statistics, studies, etc. on housing related
issues;
§ Coordinating
activities, meetings, forums and USICH initiatives with Federal, State, local
and private stakeholders around the U.S.;
§ Supporting essential
administrative assignments related to document and correspondence
preparation, answering calls, facilitating webinar and conference calls and
responding to general questions of a non-policy
nature;
§ Tracking and analyzing

Program Coordinator Position with Pediatric AIDS Foundation Appropriate for Recent Grad

Job Summary
The
Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation (EGPAF) is seeking a Program
Coordinator (PC) for our Program Implementation and Country Management (PICM)
unit. This role provides important support to the Country Officers (COs) who
function as backstops for EGPAF’s country programs, as well as to the Country
Support Team Managers and to the Senior Directors overseeing the Country
Directors. The PC provides programmatic, technical, financial and operational
assistance to all levels of the PICM team. This individual serves as a key
resource in helping the PICM unit to fulfill necessary programmatic,
technical, and operational needs and to ultimately help it achieve the goal
of supporting country programs to reach the Foundation’s mission.
Job Responsibilities
Documentation, Research and
Reporting
·
Collating information from various
sources to produce initial drafts of documents
·
Assist with formatting and editing of
key documents.
·
Development of report schematics,
tables, and charts.
·
Support COs in research activities as
needed, including literature reviews, abstract development, and assisting
with presentation development.
·
Perform data queries and analysis for
CO.
·
Assist in new business initiatives,
such as formatting and editing sections of proposals.
Meetings and Conference
Facilitation
·
Schedule and coordinate meetings and
conference calls; participate and/or take notes.
·
Research and prepare relevant
materials for internal and external meetings with staff, donors, partners,
etc.
·
Assist with the planning and
organization of international meetings or conferences.
Communication and Information
Management
·
Lead the unit’s efforts around
utilization of the EGPAF intranet, uploading content on a regular basis.
·
Maintain unit files (electronic and
paper).
Travel Support
·
Assist with travel arrangements and
expense reports for Senior Directors, Country Support Team Managers, and COs
as requested.
·
Prepare arrangements for EGPAF staff
and external parties who visit the Washington office on business related to
the PICM unit.
Required Qualifications
·
At least 1 – 2 years relevant
experience.
·
Bachelor’s degree preferred.
·
Familiarity with or interest in
public health, international relations, international development, or related
field.
·
Advanced proficiency in Portuguese
·
Field experience in a developing
country is preferred.
·
Advanced skills in Microsoft Word,
Excel, PowerPoint, etc. is preferred.
·
Ability to travel 10%.
