Language Skills and Eager to Work for State? Consider Applyihng to be a Consular Fellow Become a Consular Fellow and use your language proficiency in Spanish, Chinese Mandarin, Portuguese, Arabic, and Russian as part of a unique national service program working in U.S. embassies and consulates abroad.   The Consular Fellows Program is a limited non-career appointment of up to five years which directly supports the Department of State’s mission to provide overseas consular services that protect U.S. citizens, ensure U.S. national security, facilitate the entry of legitimate travelers, and foster economic growth at home.   Consular Fellows adjudicate visa applications of foreign citizens seeking to come to the United States to visit, study, and work, and assist U.S. citizens traveling or living abroad.  You are on the front lines of preventing fraud, combatting trafficking in persons, and protecting U.S. border security.    Working together with dedicated professionals, this public service opportunity provides valuable professional experience and you will develop and apply a wide range of skills, from managing resources to conducting public outreach.   New hire Consular Fellows will be eligible for an incentive equal to 10% of their basic salary and may be eligible for the Student Loan Repayment Program.    We are looking for motivated, culturally-aware, adaptable problem-solvers who have sound judgment and strong customer service skills and can retain their composure during stressful circumstances. DOT-Office of Inspector General: Summer Pathways Internship Program

The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT), Office of Inspector General (OIG) will be seeking applicants for Management and Program Analysts, Auditors, IT Specialists, Investigative Analysts Pathways Interns.  OIG works within DOT to promote efficiency and effectiveness, and prevent or stop waste, fraud and abuse in departmental programs through audits and investigations.

Pathways Interns will be entry-level analysts and work with OIG teams in a developmental capacity to conduct reviews of the efficiency and effectiveness of DOT programs or assist with criminal investigations. They will make key contributions to a variety of possible products, including audit reports, briefings to DOT leadership or congressional stakeholders, management advisories, and congressional testimonies.

Current students seeking a degree in a related field of study, such as public policy, law, political science, criminal justice, accounting, auditing, information technology, business administration, finance, or public administration are eligible to apply. Students must have at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA. 

Interns will be expected to work during the summer of 2020 (not to exceed September 30, 2020 unless extended). This is a student internship opportunity under DOT Pathways Program. After successful completion of the program requirements, interns may be converted to a permanent appointment, although there is no guarantee of conversion. Extensions to this appointment may occur, although there is no guarantee of extension.  Deadline to apply to internships: December 16, 2019.
