2020 USG Board of Advisors Kendall Service Awards are now open!

CCJS loves to be represented in these awards.  Nominate a staff or faculty member today!

Cliff Kendall and his wife Camille, philanthropists, active members and longtime supporters of The Universities at Shady Grove have generously established three annual awards that recognize faculty and staff who have performed exceptionally in supporting student success at the Universities at Shady Grove. To support the Kendall's generosity and their recognition of the impact faculty and staff have on supporting students here, the USG Board of Advisors has established three Kendall awards:

·         Excellence in Teaching;
·         Program Director of the Year
·         Outstanding Service to Students

Each award recipient will receive a substantial cash award. The names and pictures of award recipients will be prominently displayed at the Priddy Library and they will be formally recognized at a campus-wide event.

Please take a moment to consider nominating a deserving faculty, staff or colleague for one of these awards.  Nominations are easy to submit and are accepted via our webpage at: http://shadygrove.umd.edu/kendall-awards.  Nominations close Friday, March 13th.

Law and Society Minor

The Law and Society minor is accepting applications for the 2020-2021 cohort. The Law and Society Minor is an interdisciplinary and experiential approach to the study of law and its impact on society. This 18-credit, upper-level learning opportunity is designed to help students understand law, critically analyze it, and use it as an instrument of change.

Students will be introduced to law and society scholarship through courses taught by University of Maryland’s faculty across a wide variety of departments and programs as well as law faculty from the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law. Coursework will challenge students’ assumptions about law and its function in society. It will encourage them to think creatively and critically about law’s place in society and provide opportunities for them to create change.

To learn more and to apply, please visit: https://mlaw.umd.edu/landingtopic/law-and-society-minor.

Applications are considered on a rolling basis but the next priority deadline is March 30.
