New Student Organization!

The Center for the Study of Business Ethics, Regulation & Crime has undertaken an exciting new student initiative:  We are sponsoring a student chapter of the Center for the Public Trust--the first chapter in Maryland.  Let me tell you a little bit about the organization.

The Student Center for the Public Trust (StudentCPT) is a national network of college students who demonstrate a commitment to ethical leadership.  Chapters are hosted on college campuses across the country which provide students with opportunities to participate in training sessions, conferences, community service and business ethics competitions.

Giving students the opportunity to learn more about ethics and ethical leadership, while providing skills to confront the challenges facing society today, is critically important.  It is also consistent with the mission of C-BERC.

Sign up by May 14th!

Banyan Impact Fellowship for Service in India for May and Recent Grads

Banyan Impact Fellowship for Service in India for May and Recent Grads

For 20 years, the American India Foundation (AIF) has been sending a cohort of dedicated young people on a journey of service for impact, building a “living bridge” between India and the US. At the cusp of the program’s third decade, AIF is seizing the moment to rebrand the program to reflect the mission, vision, and values moving into the next decade of action. We are thrilled to announce that the AIF Clinton Fellowship is now the AIF Banyan Impact Fellowship.

Affirming that we are the generation to end extreme poverty, combat climate change, and conquer injustice, the Banyan Impact Fellowship builds upon the past 20 years and leads for the next 20 as a true catalyst for change. The Banyan Tree is a symbol of strength, resilience, and interconnectedness. We believe that it serves as a powerful metaphor for mobilizing a collective, cross-generational force towards sustainable impact. The process of the Banyan Tree spreading its roots, which over the course of time become trees of their own, is such a strong representation of how we want to see this program growing. Each step, each effort, and each individual becoming an agent of positive change, coming together as an ecosystem to support and amplify each other’s impact.

The Banyan Impact Fellowship is a fully-funded, interdisciplinary experiential learning program that places young professionals from India and the US in service with communities across India. Through collaboration and capacity-building, Fellows and local communities exchange knowledge and skills to steer projects that advance social and economic development. Fellows learn about grassroots development and inclusive leadership through fieldwork, mentorship, and conferences over the course of the program.

PROGRAM DATES:
November 1, 2021 – July 2, 2022.*
(*AIF is planning for the program to be hosted in person, however reserves the right to change it to a hybrid model, i.e., a mix of in-person and virtual, if the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic requires it.)

WHO CAN APPLY:
Open to US citizens, US permanent residents or Indian citizens aged 21-35, with a Bachelor's degree (or higher) in hand by November 1st, 2021. We encourage candidates from all disciplines to apply.

PROGRAM BENEFITS:
Fully funded program that trains, supports, and places Fellows with communities in India for service projects. AIF provides professional development through mentorship, workshops, and thematic conferences throughout the program. Fellows receive comprehensive insurance coverage, access to a private counselor, and 24/7 emergency support. AIF offers support for Fellows with disabilities who require special accommodations and/or assistive technology to participate. All program-related travel, visa support, and international airfare is covered by AIF. Fellows enjoy access to a global network of 500+ Alumni.

HOW TO APPLY:
