The University Career Center is hosting a Just In Time Meetup on May 6, 2022. This is a networking event where students, soon to be graduates, and recent graduates can explore internships and full-time opportunities before summer break! This event will take place virtually and use the following format: 12:00 - 12:10 PMOffice/Organization Overviews and 12:20 - 2:00 PM, Students will rotate to employer breakout rooms to network and ask questions.

Intern Job Summary
The OIG is seeking an energetic, responsible intern to work in the Investigations Division. Select responsibilities include:

-Processing complaints received through the hotline, to include: answering hotline calls; interviewing complainants; composing summaries of complaints; conducting research associated with complaints; and writing memoranda detailing the results of research
--Conducting research in support of the division’s investigations and reviews;
--Participating in interviews as part of investigations and inspections; 
--Preparing summaries detailing information learned as the result of research.

Intern Requirements and Qualifications
--Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills;
--Apply an inquisitive nature and show eagerness to tackle new projects and ideas;
--Possess uncompromising ethics.
 
Hours and Pay
The internship pays $20 per hour for 120 hours of work over 10 weeks. Candidates must commit to work 12 hours a week.

 Safe from Online Sex Abuse Summer Positions


 

SOSA is hiring! 

We have summer 2022 openings for Researchers, Story Developers, and an Evidence Manager. 

These are short-term, full-time positions with an excellent salary and require travel. (Travel and housing are  provided.) These short-term positions are great for anyone feeling adventurous enough to pack a suitcase,  as this requires temporary relocation. This is a 10-week commitment, beginning in June and running until  Mid August 2022. 

Location: On-location in the USA - TBD. 

Schedule: Temporary, flexible hours. Will discuss upon hire. 

ABOUT SOSA     

SOSA (Safe from Online Sex Abuse) is a non-profit that raises awareness and combats the pervasiveness of  online child sex abuse and exploitation. Our work supports abuse survivors, spearheads child abuse  prevention initiatives, advocates for better and broader online safety, provides empathy-led education to  young people, helps build technology that makes online platforms safer, aides law enforcement targeting  perpetrators of internet crimes against children, and signal boosts the work of other organizations who  strive to make a difference for kids all over the world.

2022 SHORT TERM FULL TIME POSITIONS  

1) STORY DEVELOPER 

We are looking for candidates who will drive the development and execution of our writing for our  characters and our storylines. You will get to partner with the SOSA team and help with the creative  development of our decoys and the narratives. 

In this position, you will: 

Create, pitch, and discuss stories for original SOSA decoys 

Write and revise multiple ongoing storylines in live time while maintaining character integrity Collaborate with the SOSA team to develop compelling and immersive stories Independently identify problems and offer creative thoughtful solutions in a fast paced  environment

Independently handle projects and requests from the SOSA team from start to completion,  ensuring timely and consistent high-quality deliverables 

Expectations & Preferred Qualifications: 

Knowledge of trends and experience with various social media platforms, including, but not  limited to: Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, and Twitter 

High level of flexibility with regard to change in direction or rewrites 

Efficient organization and communication skills and ability to prioritize and execute ideas within a  schedule 

Experience working with Google and Google applications (Drive, Docs, Sheets) Strong research skills and excellent attention to detail 

2) RESEARCHER 

we are looking for someone to help us with researching and partnering with our team on our characters and  storylines for SOSA. This exciting role will partner with our story developer and team to help pitch and  drive ideas based on findings and investigation work. 

In this position, you will:

Perform other necessary duties as assigned 

Expectations & Preferred Qualifications: 

Knowledge of trends and experience with various social media platforms, including, but not  limited to: Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, and Twitter 

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment dealing with sensitive topics 

Efficient organization and communication skills and ability to prioritize and execute ideas within a  schedule 

Experience working with Google and Google applications (Drive, Docs, Sheets) Strong research skills and excellent attention to detail 

3) EVIDENCE MANAGER 

We are looking for someone to help us with storing, preserving, and organizing our digital assets, evidence,  and content. This role will partner with our SOSA team closely to help maintain records of all of our digital  assets securely and organized. 

In this position, you will: 

Oversee the evidence gathering and documenting process. 

Instruct admin support team on accurate archiving. 

Keep files organized and easily viewable.

Ensure that all files are named according to a naming system. 

Independently identify problems and offer creative thoughtful solutions in a fast-paced  environment 

Independently handle projects and requests from the SOSA team from start to completion,  ensuring timely and consistent high-quality deliverables 

Expectations & Preferred Qualifications: 

Knowledge of trends and experience with various social media platforms, including, but not  limited to: Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, and Twitter 

Fastidious organization and communication skills 

Experience working with Google and Google applications (Drive, Docs, Sheets) Strong research skills and excellent attention to detail

UMD Summer Language Institute 2022

 UMD Summer Language Institute 2022


The University of Maryland Summer Language Institute in Arabic and Persian is still accepting applicants for Summer 2022! This is a great opportunity for students to start learning a critical language or improve their proficiency to better prepare for a career in any field that requires intercultural communication. The SLI can be especially useful for students with language requirements in their major who don't have time to take language classes during the school year, as it offers a full year worth of language classes in a single intensive summer!
