I am writing to
inform you of an exciting new scholarship opportunity for students, the
“Macklin Achievement Scholars Program.” The “Macklin Achievement Scholars
Program” is an investment scholarship that aims to make a significant impact on
your students’ academic success. The scholarship is for full-time students with
a cumulative GPA between 2.0 and 2.75 who demonstrate financial need. The
objective is to alleviate some portion of financial burden and connect students
to valuable academic support so that they can increase their focus on their
academic goals. This scholarship recognizes that there are many factors
that can impact a student’s academic success and seeks to identify and further
motivate those students that show commitment and academic potential. This
scholarship is a conditional, semester award, the incentivizes academic
progress.
Macklin Achievement
Scholarship Requirement
- Students
who have obtained a 2.0-2.75 cumulative GPA while attending USG apply
after their first semester GPA is posted.
- Application
includes a success plan and essay addressing how the scholarship would
enhance their learning potential as well as a letter of recommendation and
support from a program specific faculty member.
- Selected
students receive $500 toward the second semester and must agree to attend
a minimum of two Center for Academic Success meetings or events each
semester.
- Cumulative
GPA is analyzed at the end of the second semester, GPA improvement results
in a third semester scholarship based on the following scale:
- .01-.24
increase= $1,000
- .25
or higher=$1,500
- Third
semester cumulative GPA is analyzed, cumulative GPA improvement from the
second semester results in a final semester scholarship based on the
following scale:
- .01-.24
increase= $1,000
- .25
or higher=$1,500
- Selected
students whose cumulative GPA does not increase from their second to third
semester but who reach and maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA or higher will
receive a $1,000 scholarship toward their final semester.
- Selected
students who increase their GPA each semester could receive a combined
maximum award of $3,500.
