The Career & Internship
Services Center is partnering with the Montgomery County Office of
Intergovernmental Relations (IGR) to offer a legislative internship in honor of
the first chair of USGs Board of Advisors, Gene Counihan. This is a highly
esteemed internship with the potential to make excellent career connections.
This internship will begin during the first week of January, to allow the
intern to work with IGR to prepare for session, and end on April 30, to allow the
intern to participate in a variety of end-of-session activities.
Assignments and tasks may include:

Monitoring and tracking legislation
·
Researching legal, policy and budget issues
·
Analyzing bills, regulations and constituent concerns
·
Writing position statements, briefing materials, reports and correspondence
·
Attending and reporting on committee
hearings/work sessions and floor debates
·
Testifying before a committee
·
Assisting in maintaining and updating the IGR
website
·
Assisting with administrative tasks
