Position Summary Information
General Summary |
The intern will assist the WSSC Police Department with various operational and administrative support activities while obtaining a better understanding of police operations.

Essential Functions |
• Assist with the accreditation process of CALEA and maintain accreditation file system
• Perform research on accreditation and policy matters
• Compile and revise police general orders
• Conduct inquiries and assist with data entry of investigative reports
• Catalog and move property
• Attend community outreach activities
• Participate in a ride-along
• Help with parking and traffic details
• Participate in training exercises
• Visit courts in surrounding counties

Other duties as assigned.

Work Environment And Physical Demands |
• Standard office and field environments
• Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.

Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities |
• Must be proficient in the use of computers and standard software applications
• Must demonstrate a genuine interest in law enforcement and criminal justice

Minimum Education, Experience Requirements |
• Must have completed at least 1 year of college
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Microsoft Office experience
|
Additional Requirements |
• Must be willing to sign a liability waiver.

Preferences |
Current senior or junior criminal justice major preferred.
