Vital Voices Global Partnership, an international non-governmental organization committed to advancing women's leadership in the areas of economic empowerment, human rights and political participation, seeks a talented professional with experience in logistical program planning and implementation for the position of Temporary Program Assistant from September, 2016-November, 2016.
Reporting directly to the Senior Program Coordinators for the Fortune/U.S. State Department Global Women's Mentoring Program and the Global Ambassadors Program, the Temporary Program Assistant would assist in the program planning for the Australia Global Ambassadors Program occurring in October and the program planning and implementation for the Fortune Program's International Alumnae Component to be held in November in India. The Program Assistant would ideally start on September 1st and work through mid-November. He/she will assist in the planning of the Global Ambassadors Program through September and the Fortune Program through October as well as travel to India in early November for the program implementation.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Assisting with the coordination of the international airfare, lodging and airport transfers for program participants, staff and consultants for both the Global Ambassadors and Fortune Programs
- Coordinating arrangement with vendors, such as ground transportation, tour companies and restaurants for the Fortune Program
- Developing and editing all materials for both programs
- Supporting the Senior Program Coordinator for the Fortune Program during the execution of the International Alumnae Component in November in India
- Taking comprehensive notes and photos during the International Alumnae Component, and utilizing social media, such as Facebook and Twitter, to document the experience
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Interest in and knowledge of global women's issues, international development and/or women's leadership
- Bachelor's degree in international development or a related field is required. Relevant work experience is a plus.
- Experience in coordinating logistics for programs, including travel, accommodations, etc.
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently and manage your time
- Team player with a commitment to seeing a project through to successful completion
- Strong organizational skills and administrative capabilities
- Excellent writing and editing skills
- Meticulous attention to detail
- Computer literacy (Excel and document formatting skills preferred)
- Social media competency
- Must be able to travel internationally to India for one week in early November for the Fortune Program (travel and business-related expenses will be paid by Vital Voices)
This position is a full-time, temporary, non-exempt position based in Washington, DC.Vital Voices does not provide work visa sponsorship or relocation assistance for this position.
