The Montgomery County Family Justice Center (FJC) Internship Program provides interns with a unique opportunity to learn about domestic violence intervention on a direct service level. The FJC Legal Intern will assist the attorneys and legal advocates housed at the Center, this includes, Catholic Charities, DVS Legal Services, and House of Ruth Maryland.
Duties The FJC Intern will assist in the following duties: •Maintain legal services referral database and review protective orders •Conduct outreach calls with FJC clients for possible representation •Maintain the legal appointment book •Coordinating between outside partners for legal representation for FJC clients •Covering the FJC reception desk •Covering the FJC intake desk •Other duties as assigned Applicant Requirements: •Must be 18 years of age •Highly organized and motivated •Must be currently enrolled in undergraduate or graduate school •Complete and submit an Internship Application •Submit a resume •Agree to an interview (if selected for an interview) •Successfully complete a background check application (if selected for the position) •Available 8:30 AM – 12:30 PM, three (3) to five (5) days per week (Mon-Fri)** Preferred Qualifications (not required): •Bilingual (Spanish/English) •Experience or interest in the following areas: domestic violence, pre-law/law, political science, and/or criminal justice Application due November 30, 2016 To view the full posting and to apply, students should log in to Careers4Terps and search the internship’s ID number: 149177 |
