The Philadelphia Police Department is seeking multiple civilian Jr. Law Enforcement Analysts (entry-level). We will be accepting applications between 3/25 to 4/5. Applications may be submitted here:
Employees in this class complete a training program that may include attending training sessions, participating on assignments and/or other tasks designed to familiarize them with law enforcement information management systems, crime analysis, intelligence analysis, and research. The Intelligence, Research, Operations, and Real-Time Crime Center assignments vary in nature and increase in complexity as the employee gains experience. Employees work on assigned shifts in the Real-Time Crime Center assignment. Work is performed under the supervision of a technical superior.
Minimum Experience and Education include completion of a Bachelor’s (Master’s preferred) at an accredited college or university with major coursework in criminology, criminal justice, crime science, data science, geography, intelligence analysis, mathematics, statistics, or a closely related social science field. Applications may be accepted if the date of graduation is Spring of 2019.
Applicants must be able to pass, prior to appointment, a local, state and national criminal background check including a fingerprint-based check as required by the Federal Bureau of Investigation's (FBI) Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) Security Policy. Fishlinger Family Fund Scholarship
The College of Behavioral and Social Sciences is currently looking to award the Fishlinger Endowed Scholarship. Scholarship Opportunity for CCJS Majors - Deadline March 29
The Criminology and Criminal Justice Department is pleased to offer the J. Edgar Hoover Foundation Leadership Scholarship for the 2019-2020 academic year.
Multiple scholarships ($1,000-$1,350 each) will be awarded to high achieving CCJS rising juniors and seniors. Recipients will be chosen on the basis of demonstrated strength in CCJS coursework, merit, and leadership ability. Preference will be given to students who have an interest in and are eligible for law enforcement careers (e.g. http://www. federallawenforcement.org/ careers/).
Applicants for the J. Edgar Hoover Foundation Leadership Scholarship must meet the following criteria:
- Declared as a CCJS major
- Rising junior, or senior standing for the 2019-2020 academic year

Social Justice Day 2019 - April 11, 2019
The University of Maryland is hosting its 3rd annual Social Justice Day. The day will include free activities focused on this year's campus-wide theme of immigration, migration, and refugee issues. Multiple sessions will be offered throughout the day; for more information, visit go.umd.edu/sjd2019.

INFORMATION:
The Police Cadet Program serves to identify and select qualified individuals contemplating a career in the field of law enforcement and provide them with career orientation and first-hand experience to better prepare them to be a Gaithersburg Police Officer when they reach the minimum age requirements. However, a Cadet position is not a guarantee that the individual will be hired as a City Police Officer Candidate.
Cadets perform a variety of hands-on administrative, technical, and other tasks supporting the functions, services, and operations of the Gaithersburg Police Department while gaining insight and awareness into a law enforcement career and various phases of law enforcement. Cadets have an opportunity to work directly with, assist, and observe sworn and civilian personnel to experience the challenges and personal rewards of a police career.
Candidates should exhibit good character, sound judgment, honesty, reliability, and integrity that blend together with a philosophy for community-oriented policing, and a strong desire to serve the citizens of Gaithersburg.
PAY & HOURS:
· $15 per hour.
· May work up to 20 hours per week (evening, weekend, and holiday work may be required).
· Eligible for up to $3,500 in tuition reimbursement per year of GPD Cadet employment. Reimbursement will occur after successful completion of the Police Officer field training program.

Fall 2019 Internship - Department of Justice, Litigation Security Group
The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) Litigation Security Group (LSG) is currently accepting applications for a volunteer internship in Fall 2019. Interns will earn Fall 2019 internship credit. The LSG is comprised of security specialists whose mission is to protect classified information from unauthorized disclosure which is introduced in litigation. This is a great opportunity for students who are interested in law and attending law school.
The LSG group of the DOJ ensures the safety of classified material in courtrooms. LSG works with judges, law clerks, US Attorneys and defense attorneys to ensure that classified information is admissible and national security is taken into account. Interns will have the opportunity to not only work LSG employees, but attend federal trials and the possibility to take trips to the Supreme Court and circuit/district courts within other states. Interns will have the opportunity to network with people in the legal field as well as national security field. Interns will also obtain a security clearance, which is an extremely valuable asset if a student is considering a job with the federal government.
The Agency:
The Security and Emergency Planning Staff of the LSG provides security advice and assistance to the federal judiciary, counsel, and other participants outside of the executive branch during the course of litigation. This includes, but is not limited to, initiating and adjudicating background investigations, overseeing the construction of sensitive compartmented information facilities in federal courthouses, providing equipment for the processing, safekeeping, and destruction of classified information and conducting security briefings.
The Internship:
Volunteer interns will assist with ongoing administrative projects related to the LSG’s mission. This internship will focus on a training program related to the protection of classified national security information. The intern will be working onsite at the LSG office, which is located at 145 N Street, NE (NOMA – Gallaudet), Washington, DC. Applicants will undergo a background check for access to Top Secret information.
Length of Internship:
Fall 2019 with the possibility of extending beyond those semesters
Hours per Week:
Students should be available to work approximately 16-20 hours per week
Qualifications:
Applicants should be self-motivated, responsible, have excellent writing skills, strong attention to detail and an interest in the subject matter. Applicants must be:
- A United States Citizen
- A rising senior, planning to graduate in Spring 2020
- A minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA
Application:
