As a Summer Intern, you will improve your skills and gains professional experience while performing meaningful work support the Airports Authority’s operations.  Summer Intern (Public Safety) This is a non-career, temporary position (10 weeks). Serves in the Office of Public Safety located at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport in Arlington, VA. Assists Public Safety staff (Fire and Rescue, Police, and Emergency Communications) with a variety of assigned activities in support of their operations.  May take on more complex or varied responsibilities as knowledge and experience increase, as appropriate.  Performs related functions. GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES Assists with planning public safety training activities and exercises. Works with staff to implement training activities and exercises. Coordinates with other staff on administrative and training functions. Performs general administrative functions in support of the Office. QUALIFICATIONS Skill in using common office equipment, computers and office software (such as Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point), and the ability to learn and use other systems/software. Ability to perform general analyses of data and information and make recommendations. Ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of and then apply learned processes, procedures, practices, systems, standards and guides to the assigned position/unit/team. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Major in Criminal Justice, Fire Science, Political Science, or related field. Interest in a career in public safety. EDUCATION Currently enrolled in a college or university.
