A note from the Literacy Lab...
Do you believe literacy is a human right?
I hope this message finds you well. I'm reaching out on behalf of The Literacy Lab, a local non-profit that places full-time tutors in historically-underserved schools to provide individualized reading instruction to students in pre-k through 3rd grade.
The Literacy Lab is an AmeriCorps partner program supporting schools in the DMV. During their one-year service term, tutors receive training and support, a modest cost-of-living stipend, health insurance, and are eligible for SNAP and childcare benefits if they choose to opt-in. In the DMV, we serve the DC Metro Region, Baltimore, and Greater Richmond.
Students who are interested in education, non-profits, social justice, and/or taking a gap year might find our program to fit well into their post-graduate plans
Our applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, but we encourage college students to take advantage of our online resources while they have some free time during their spring break.
