Position descriptionThe USGLC’s Policy and Government Relations Assistant position has a dual reporting structure with public policy related functions (50%) reporting to the Director of Policy and the government relations functions (50%) reporting to the Director of Government Relations.

Policy responsibilities will include: Policy Outreach. Work with policy team colleagues to elevate and deepen Administration commitment to diplomacy and global development, including State Department, USAID, and other agencies funded by International Affairs Budget.

Government Relations responsibilities will include: Advocacy. Work with Government Relations colleagues to strengthen and expand bipartisan Congressional support for America’s global leadership, the International Affairs Budget, and relevant global development and diplomacy legislation. Activities include:

QualificationsMinimum of a bachelor’s degree in public policy, government relations, foreign policy, international relations or a similar subject. The position requires at least 1-3 years of public policy and/or government relations experience related to U.S. foreign policy and international development. Strong analytical, writing, proofing/editing and communication skills are required. Limited travel, in line with the latest CDC guidelines related to COVID-19, is anticipated.
Compensation: Competitive salary will be offered, commensurate with experience and qualifications. The USGLC also provides a package of benefits, including health and disability insurance, retirement plan, paid annual and sick leave and federal holidays.
