The Governor’s Office of Crime Prevention, Youth, and Victim Services seeks a Center of
Excellence (COE) intern for Fall 2022. The incumbent will work alongside the Law
Enforcement Coordinator to collaborate with various key stakeholders (e.g., local government,
law enforcement, public safety agencies, behavioral health agencies, and crisis service
providers), and support the implementation of Senate Bill 305 (2020) and Senate Bill 857
(2021). Primary functions of this position will include providing technical support to the COE’s committees, councils, trainings, workgroups, and meetings via stakeholder engagement, research, note-taking, and report writing. The COE intern will support the work of the Crisis Intervention Teams, Behavioral Health Authorities, Public Safety, and other agencies throughout the state.
The Governor’s Office of Crime Prevention, Youth, and Victim Services seeks a Justice Reinvestment intern for Fall 2022 in our Criminal Justice division. You will work alongside the Director of Justice Reinvestment and collaborate with various external stakeholders to include the Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services, Department of Health, Administrative Office of the Courts, Maryland State Commission on Criminal Sentencing Policy, local corrections, and other agencies involved in implementation of Justice Reinvestment legislation. Prim ary functions of this position will include supporting the implementation of the Justice Reinvestment Act (JRA) and the Justice Reinvestment Oversight Board, assisting with the reporting of performance measures to stakeholders, managing capacity building opportunities, and assisting in coordinating various Workgroup meetings.
The Governor’s Office of Crime Prevention, Youth, and Victim Services seeks a Criminal Justice Program intern for Fall 2022 in our Criminal Justice division. You will work alongside the Director of Public Safety Strategies and collaborate with various internal/external stakeholders to include local, state and federal law enforcement agencies, state’s attorney’s offices, heroin coordinators, and others involved in the implementation of Public Safety Strategies. Primary functions of this position will include operationally supporting the Maryland Criminal Intelligence Network (MCIN) initiative. MCIN is a criminal justice strategy, coordinated at the local, state, and federal levels targeting gangs, drugs, firearms and human trafficking. MCIN is particularly focused on those criminal networks that are impacting multiple jurisdictions and accomplishes this by sharing information across borders. It is a key element of Maryland’s public safety strategy and provides the basis for data-driven decision making both operationally and for policy development.
The Governor’s Office of Crime Prevention, Youth, and Victim Services seeks a LEAD (Law
Enforcement Assisted Diversion) Program intern for Fall 2022 in our Criminal Justice Division. You will work alongside the LEAD Program Director and collaborate with various
internal/external stakeholders to include local, state and federal agencies
The position will report to the Project Director and will assist with all aspects of project
management, helping to ensure successful implementation of the Regrounding Our Response
project plan. Regrounding Our Response is a federal grant funded project that will plan and
implement police-led and detention-based diversion programs across nine Maryland
jurisdictions. This involves monitoring project plans, schedules, budgets, and expenditures, organizing and participating in stakeholder meetings, and ensuring that project deadlines are met in a timely
manner.
The Governor’s Office of Crime Prevention, Youth, and Victim Services seeks a Criminal
Justice-MAT intern for Fall 2022 within our Criminal Justice Division. You will work alongside the Correctional Services Treatment Coordinator and collaborate with various external stakeholders to include the Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services, Department of Health, Maryland Behavioral Health Administration, Operational Opioid Command Center, local corrections, and other agencies involved in implementation of House Bill 116 legislation. Primary functions of this position will include supporting the implementation of the Opioid Use Disorder Examinations and Treatment, assisting with the reporting of performance measures to stakeholders, managing capacity building opportunities, and assisting in coordinating various workgroup meetings.
