Free GRE Prep Series
The Center for Academic Success is planning on offering the GRE Preparation Workshop Series from mid-June to early August. The series will be 8 total weeks, with 6 weeks of instruction and 2 weeks of simulated exams. The series will be free of charge to current students at USG or alumni of programs at USG, although we will recommend that students buy 2-3 prep books to supplement the course. Timing will be determined based on participants' availability; it's important that students let us know of their interest in the series so that their availability can be considered when we identify a date and time.

 Indeed.com not only solicits ads from employers, it also pulls job announcements from usajobs.gov and several other career sites.  Students can create an Indeed alert for particular key words and a particular location in seconds.  They’ll receive an email a day with matching jobs. Private Detective Agency Seeking Applicants for Full Time and Part Time Positions


A Maryland based private detective agency is seeking applicants for full and part time positions.  All applicants start as part-time; full-time positions are earned based on performance.  The agency specializes in insurance fraud and related investigations.  Below are some details about the agency and the position.
§ The agency works for doctors, hospitals, defense attorneys, and insurance carriers
§ The position is primarily responsible for conducting video surveillance of individuals who have filed a claim alleging injury
§ The agency is willing to train new employees from the ground up
§ The agency will supply all equipment necessary to complete the job
§ The training period is three weeks and during the training period new employees will learn how to set up and conduct mobile surveillance and obtain video evidence
§ The initial three week training program is free and the agency does not collect any fees, but the applicant is not on payroll and will not be paid for the training
§ Once the applicant has successfully completed the three week course, they will be added to payroll and training will continue
§ Full time, first year investigators will have a compensation package in the mid 40’s to low 50’s
§ Applicants must have a reliable vehicle that blends in
§ The applicant must be able to work at a variety of times
§ The applicant must be able to work independently

UMD Department of Public Safety- Security Monitor Positions Open

The Security Operations Center (SOC) is currently hiring part-time security monitors.  SOC is a unit within the Technology Services Bureau of the University of Maryland, Department of Public Safety. The SOC is tasked with monitoring the extensive security camera system currently consisting of over 500 cameras that are located both on the interior and exterior of campus buildings, as well as at various locations around the City of College Park.  SOC is close to campus.  Offers a felxible schedule with a 24/7 operations center and pays $10.25 per hour.

The Gainesville, Florida Police Department is testing for Non-Certified and Certified Police Officer positions every other month starting September 2015 through March 2016.  The candidate(s) selected for non-certified will have the cost of the police academy (approx.. $6,000) paid, along with a non-certified pay of $36,067. - $38,840. during the six months of the academy.  Upon graduation and passing the State test, the salary will be $41,938.94 - $47,450.00.
