Case Management Specialist at BCFS Health & Human Services - Washington D.C.

BCFS Health and Human Service is hiring a bilingual Case Management Specialist for our Post Release & Home Study (PRHS) program.  BCFS is a system of health and human services organizations operating across the U.S. and internationally.  We offer a wide variety of programs including foster care & adoption, support for survivors of human trafficking and early childhood education, among many others.  The PRHS program serves unaccompanied immigrant minors who are primarily Central American youth that have been placed with a family member or sponsor while they go through the immigration legal process.  Case managers help the minors integrate into their new home, school and community by conducting ongoing safety and well-being assessments and connecting the family to critical community based resources.  BCFS HHS is the largest provider of post release services for this clientele, with 15 offices throughout the country.  The position based in Washington, D.C. will involve extensive travel to clients’ homes throughout the Northeast U.S., with the goal of helping the families maintain a safe and healthy placement.

Job candidates must be able to communicate effectively in English & Spanish.  They need a Bachelor’s degree at minimum, but a Master’s is preferred.  Experience working in crisis intervention and case management is required, and we prefer experience with immigrant populations and child welfare.  Visit www.discoverbcfs.net to read the full job description and apply for the job.  The “Careers” link is located at the very bottom of the webpage.  Good luck!

Lavender Graduation 2019 is here!
Lavender Graduation recognizes an important milestone in the lives of our LGBTQIA+ graduates. Whether you have been involved in the LGBTQIA+ community at UMD or not, we encourage all LGBTQIA+ and allied graduates to consider participating in the ceremony so that we may highlight your perseverance and value to the University of Maryland community.
Both undergraduate and graduate students are encouraged to attend and bring family, friends, and other significant individuals in their lives from both on and off campus. Of course, all faculty and staff are invited. Those who are graduating in December 2018, May 2019, or December 2019 are welcome to walk in the ceremony. Each LGBTQIA+ graduate will receive a rainbow tassel, rainbow stole, and a certificate of achievement.

Volunteer to be an orientation leader!

Remember when you were a brand new student at USG, planning to attend orientation before your first semester? This is your chance to make a difference for others who are in the same position. As you know, incoming students are largely impacted in a positive way if their Orientation Leaders are from their same program, so we would love to see you participate and represent CCJS!

This is a volunteer opportunity and it is great for your resume and communication/leadership skills. You don't have to be available for all the orientation dates, but at least the UMD dates (July 24th and August 20, 2019) and the mandatory training on Friday, June 7th. The deadline to apply is Monday, May 20th. The application can be found here.
