Mental Health Workshop - Dec. 9

Join CSEF, CCC, MCAS, and the GSA for Art With Impact’s “Wellness in Words” workshop, which will be held virtually on Thursday, December 9, 5-7 pm. This 2-hour virtual workshop will provide students with the opportunity to engage in interactive discussion, explore mental health as it relates to hope and resilience through short film and poetry, and connect with wellness resources available to them.

Art With Impact (AWI) is a non-profit that uses the power of film to reduce stigma around mental illness and raise awareness about mental health issues. They have run over 200 successful workshops at universities and colleges throughout the U.S. and Canada over the past five years which students have described as: eye-opening, powerful, fantastic, enlightening, and worth going to.

Informational Interviewing

 

What is an Informational Interview?
  • A networking strategy in which you ask a professional in your field for 15-20 minutes of their time to ask questions about their industry/job

How do you find someone to interview?
  • Ask your professors, family, friends if they know anyone working at the organization or in the field you're interested in (Hint: You can also ask me, or someone at the Feller Center/University Career Center)
  • Attend a career event and follow up with the speaker or panelist
  • Utilize Terrapins Connect or LinkedIn (Hint: use the LinkedIn Alumni Tool)

How do I follow up?
  • Send a thank you email/note after your meeting and stay in touch by adding them on LinkedIn and emailing/having follow up conversations periodically

The Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) Program offers 10 talented undergraduates a funded opportunity to engage in research to work on one of four projects that focus on Muslim experiences with hate crimes, discrimination, and stigmatization in Arkansas.

NCIS Internship

 

Summer/Fall Internship

The NCIS Internship Program is a dedicated hands-on experience designed to provide educationally related work assignments for undergraduate and graduate college students in a non-pay status. This minimum 18-week experience immerses interns into unique experiences such as law enforcement, national security, intelligence, and cyber all while working alongside experienced NCIS personnel.
