The professionals at the National Security Agency (NSA) have one common goal: to protect our nation. The mission requires a strong offense and a steadfast defense. The offense collects, processes and disseminates intelligence information derived from foreign signals for intelligence and counterintelligence purposes. The defense prevents adversaries from gaining access to sensitive classified national security information. The National Security Agency is looking for an Administrative Services Specialist to join the team! The Contract Administration Office within the Office of Contracting is currently looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to become a member of their Contracts Closeout team. As a member of the Contract Closeout team, the individual would provide support to the process that assures all actions required by the contract have been accomplished. The selectee will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment with an established team of business professionals while gaining valuable insight into mission strategies, goals and objectives. The position is a full-time position. The Office of Contracting participates in the Alternative Work Schedules Program. Operational mission requirements may at times require extended hours. Specific duties include but are not limited to: -Track and file incoming correspondence -File retrieval from other B3 offices and the mailroom -Maintain master log of files in the closeout office to include physical inventory of files received from other offices -Assist with the check-in process of incoming files to the closeout office -Perform preparation, reproduction and distribution of closeout documents -Contact Office of Naval Research field branches, Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA) offices, and various vendors to obtain documents required for the closeout of contracts -Document and file DCAA Incurred Cost Audits -Utilize DCAA Incurred Cost Audits and contractor prepared supporting documents to ensure proper billing and payment against flexibly priced contracts -Document and file Past Performance Reports -Close out expired purchase orders, contracts, and grant awards -Utilize the contract generation tool to record information pertaining to final payment and Record Center shipments -Access the financial database to retrieve financial reports to identify total expended amounts and unliquidated obligations -Participate in the Quarterly Review of unliquidated obligations process -Assist with Record Center entries and shipments

Job Summary

Personnel assigned to Support Services are on the front lines of delivering the best in customer service, technical support, administrative and management services. From Office Assistants to Sign Language Interpreters, these personnel serve as the focal points for organizations that require assistance with operational and administrative issues, records management, journalistic ideas, products and services and the coordination of reasonable accommodations and education.

Qualifications

Salary Range: $39,684 - $63,906 (Entry/Developmental) *The qualifications listed are the minimum acceptable to be considered for the position. Salary offers are based on candidates' education level and years of experience relevant to the position and also take into account information provided by the hiring manager/organization regarding the work level for the position. Entry is with a high school diploma or GED and no experience. Experience working with basic office resources (e.g., e-mail, web browsers, word processors, presentation graphics) and experience in a subject matter related to the position in which the candidate is applying is desired. Salary Range: $60,129 - $78,167 (Full Performance) *The qualifications listed are the minimum acceptable to be considered for the position. Salary offers are based on candidates' education level and years of experience relevant to the position and also take into account information provided by the hiring manager/organization regarding the work level for the position. Entry is with a high school diploma or GED plus 4 years of relevant experience, or an Associate's degree plus 2 years of relevant experience. Degree must be in a related field. Relevant experience must be working with basic office resources (e.g., e-mail, web browsers, word processors, presentation graphics) and experience in a subject matter related to the position in which the candidate is applying. Salary Range: $72,750 - $94,581 (Senior) *The qualifications listed are the minimum acceptable to be considered for the position. Salary offers are based on candidates' education level and years of experience relevant to the position and also take into account information provided by the hiring manager/organization regarding the work level for the position. Entry is with a high school diploma or GED plus 6 years of relevant experience, or an Associate's degree plus 4 years of relevant experience, or a Bachelor's degree plus 2 years of relevant experience. Degree must be in a related field. Relevant experience must be working with basic office resources (e.g., e-mail, web browsers, word processors, presentation graphics) and experience in a subject matter related to the position in which the candidate is applying.

The ideal candidate is someone with the ability to: -use Microsoft Office products such as EXCEL, ACCESS, Word, and PowerPoint -work both independently and as an effective team member -be flexible to cope with a changing environment and short deadlines -plan and organize skills -provide excellent communication and customer skills (both verbal and written)

This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday.

This position is located in the Department of Health And Human Services, Office of the Assistant Secretary for Financial Resources (ASFR), located in Washington DC and location negotiable. Interns are hired in several components within the Office of Budget (OB) for the Summer of 2022.

Duties include:

  • Assists in developing drafts of program policy for the needs and preferences of HHS health and human services programs. 
  • Analyzes operational policy and program operations to inform resource requirements. 
  • Assists with reviewing and/or analyzing legislation, appropriation language, and Treasury and Congressional guidelines to prepare and execute Federal budgets. 
  • Assists with interpreting data tabulations and graphs. 
  • Assists with identifying critical factors such as data limitations, biases, sampling errors, and inconsistencies. 
  • Assists with developing clearly written and concise issue papers and talking points for senior analysts when needed, including recommendations on legislative, regulatory, programmatic, and budget proposals. 
  • Serves as liaison to obtain expert input, and promote understanding of HHS program issues.
Requirements include:
  • U.S. Citizenship 
  • A background security investigation will be required for all appointees. Appointment will be subject to the applicant's successful completion of a background security investigation and favorable adjudication. 
  • Proof of student status must be submitted with the application. 
  • All applicants must be in good academic standing. 
  • Students must provide official transcripts if selected.
Salary: 
  • $30,414 - $48,978 per year

Women's Action for New Directions (WAND) is a nonprofit that promotes diplomacy, demilitarizes U.S. foreign policy, and elevates women’s voices in conversations about national security.  WAND has a track record of amplifying women’s voices over its 35+ years of existence. They know the obstacles women face in the national security field and they also know that women are key to solving our nations’ toughest challenges. WAND works to promote diplomacy and demilitarize U.S. foreign policy, elevate women’s voices in conversations about national security policy, and educate and engage women legislators and Members of Congress on peace and security issues.

WAND’s peace and security mentor program, En Voz Alta, is now accepting applications for the fourth cohort of their mentor program. En Voz Alta pairs Latina mentors and allies from the peace and security community with early-career professionals and students attending undergraduate/graduate school in the U.S. to help strengthen the pipeline of candidates entering the field. 

Requirements:

  • Identify as Hispanic/Latina/Latin American 
  • Recent or current undergraduate or graduate student studying international relations, national security, government, or related field 
  • Can commit to monthly meetings with a mentor and the Program Coordinator from January 2022 to December 2022

Program Details:

  • Terps for Change is a service-learning organization that allows students to engage in meaningful, longitudinal service with one of our 12 community partners. We hold weekly dialogues that give students the opportunity to explore and reflect on social issues that are impacting our community

  • The experience is free and in-person. With Virtual options if needed.  


Who should participate?:

  • Students who want to engage in weekly service and get involved in the community. 

  • Undergraduate students interested in getting involved in engaging discussions, education and reflection centered around social issues and community service-learning.


How will you benefit from participating?:

  • Connect with other students who have a passion for service-learning.

  • Develop and practice personal and group facilitation skills such as active listening, reflection, critical thinking, and communication. 

  • Learn how to effectively engage in constructive dialogue.

 

What should I expect?:

  • Students will volunteer 1-3 hours a week with one of our local community partners with a group of students

  • Participate in a 1-hour weekly dialogues around social issues.

  • Making connections between social issues and your academic, personal, and professional life.
