Communities is launching a new study abroad program
to the Dominican Republic! This service-learning course will take place
over Winter Break.
Program Highlights
§ Runs January 6-16, during Winter Break
§ Engage in education and environmental conservation service
projects with the host community
§ Cultural and language immersion through homestay living
arrangements
§ Daily cultural experiences and seminars, including a
special day trip to 27 Charcos
where you can explore the area by jumping into the naturally formed
pools, slide down waterfalls, and coast downstream with the current!
The program fee is $2100 and includes:
§ 3 credits of tuition (BSGC338D OR LASC369R)
§ Housing with Host Families
§ Most meals
§ Evening cultural experiences such as salsa and merengue
lessons, Dominican food and traditions, and cultural excursions - including
a trip to SosĂșa Beach and 27 Charcos
§ International health insurance
§ In-country transportation
§ $250 deposit (credited towards the program fee)
Not included:
§ Education Abroad application fee
§ Passport and visa costs
§ Course materials
§ International Airfare
§ A few meals and snacks
