The American Enterprise Institute seeks a full-time communications assistant to work in the foreign and defense policy department.
The position’s primary responsibility is to serve as an internal liaison and point of contact between the foreign and defense policy department and communications departments within AEI (including, but not limited to, Public Affairs, Editorial, Video, Design, and Digital Marketing). Other duties include posting to the AEIdeas blog and website; measuring the impact of the department’s content; managing the department’s social media efforts; assisting in the development and overseeing of promotion strategies for department-wide initiatives, large-scale reports, and events; writing the department’s weekly newsletter, “The Rundown”; and handling media requests.
This position requires excellent writing, research, communication, and organization skills. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated interest in and knowledge of foreign and defense policy with experience in public relations, new media, and communications. Creativity and an ability to multitask are also essential. A B.A. in international relations, political science, communications, English, journalism, or a similar field is required.
