WorldatWork is seeking a paid full-time fall 2017 intern to work with the Public Policy & Public Affairs team based in our Washington, D.C. office, located near the McPherson Square Metro Station.
WorldatWork is a nonprofit human resources association for professionals and organizations focused on compensation, benefits and total rewards strategies. WorldatWork and its affiliates provide comprehensive education, certification, research, advocacy and community to total rewards professionals. WorldatWork has more than 70,000 members and subscribers worldwide; more than 80% of Fortune 500 companies employ a WorldatWork member. Founded in 1955, WorldatWork has offices in Scottsdale, Ariz., and Washington, D.C., and is affiliated with more than 70 human resources associations across the United States and around the world.
Duties
• Attends designated meetings, hearings, and briefings on Capitol Hill and at Federal Agencies; drafts executive-level summaries for staff
• Participates in the overall planning and execution of education and advocacy outreach campaigns to Congress and federal agencies
• Performs timely research on pending legislative and regulatory developments
• Drafts articles, internal communications and webinar materials as needed
• Assists with the preparation of briefing materials, advocacy documents, media kits and other member resources
• Monitors news and identifies opportunities for further outreach to reporters, bloggers and congressional staff
• Compiles daily press clips on topics relevant to public policy and total rewards
• Drafts press statements, fact sheets, and social media posts
• Builds and maintains targeted press lists
• Helps plan and coordinate a variety of internal and external events
• Provides routine administrative support for the office
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
• Current student or recent graduate of an accredited Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program. Political science, public policy, public affairs, journalism, history, or communication majors preferred
• First-rate communications, organizational, and research skills
• Experience using current social media platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn preferred
• Demonstrated interest in public policy and/or government affairs
• Working knowledge of U.S. legislative and regulatory processes preferred
