The Domestic Violence Coordinating Council (DVCC) Internship, through the Montgomery County Family Justice Center (FJC) Volunteer and Internship Program, provides a unique opportunity to learn about domestic violence education and prevention. The intern will learn about domestic violence, the agencies throughout the county who provide services and how coordinated community response works. All internship positions at the FJC are formally supervised by the FJC Program Manager. The DVCC Intern will also report to the DVCC Program Manager for daily tasks and will help organize the Choose Respect Conference on Dating Violence, along with other responsibilities for the DVCC. The intern will also assist with reception and intake responsibilities at the FJC. Students interested in the following areas are highly encouraged to apply: social work, public health, criminal justice, education, crisis intervention, and/ or family dynamics.
Requirements:
Hours Required: Interns are required to work at least 16 hours per week, with at least one full day 8:30am-5pm shift. Applicant must be available to attend DVCC meetings, usually held every other month from 5pm-7pm, and for the Choose Respect Conference, usually held on a Sunday in April. Additional evening hours may be required in April to assist in preparing for the Conference.
Commitment Requirements: Applicants selected to intern at the FJC must commit to the following during the Spring Semester (January to the end of May)
