Fall National Security Internship

Fall National Security Internship Position description Partnership for a Secure America is a nonprofit founded by former U.S. Representative Lee Hamilton and the late U.S. Senator Warren Rudman to advance bipartisanship on today's national security and foreign policy challenges. Leveraging the leadership of its distinguished Advisory Board, PSA has unique credibility and access to forge common ground and fashion thoughtful, fact-based policy that promotes America's national interests. PSA works on a broad range of key policy issues such as nuclear nonproliferation, Middle East policy, energy security, international organizations, and more. PSA works heavily with Capitol Hill offices, the executive branch, and the NGO community. At PSA, National Security Interns will have the opportunity to participate in a close-knit team environment and gain first-hand exposure to and knowledge of D.C. political and policy establishments. In addition, interns will leave PSA with practical experience in the programmatic aspects of running a nonprofit organization. Qualifications Duties and Responsibilities: Essential functions may include, but are not limited to the following: Research key foreign policy and national security challenges to inform future bipartisan policy statements and educational briefings on these issues; Research legislation, Committee proceedings, and positions of key foreign policy/national security leaders in Congress; Help identify and research other timely issues and policy figures for Capitol Hill educational briefings; Prepare materials in preparation for PSA programs and events Maintain, cultivate, and track PSA’s social media channels ( Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn) and Advisory Board activities Assist PSA staff with events logistics for briefings and roundtables with high-level Congressional Staff Attend and report on relevant events, hearings, and policy developments; Preferred Qualifications: Event experience Photography or video editing experience  IT, website content management, or Graphic Design experience  Experience crafting and implementing a communications strategy for policy work  Application instructions Time Commitment: Must be able to work at 3-4 days a week from September - December 2019 Knowledge, Education, and Experience: Must be at least a college junior, graduate student, or a recent graduate Must have at least a 3.0 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) from an accredited U.S. institution or equivalent from a non-U.S. institution Interest in research, media communications, and congressional engagement Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work independently Interested Candidates should submit a resume and cover letter to vacancy@psaonline.org with the subject line "Last name-Fall 2019 internship"
