ATF tentatively scheduled a Job Opportunity Announcement(JOA) for Special Agent on October 4, 2021.
- This will be a GS 7 and GS 9 Job Opportunity Announcement(JOA) only.
- Interested Applicants will access the JOA via the careers page on the ATF public website (Careers | Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (atf.gov)
- The JOA will be open for a pre-determined amount of days OR capped once the predetermined allotment (Unknown at this time) of applications are received (whichever comes first).
- Senior students (within 9 months of graduation for receiving their bachelor’s degree) who have a grade point average of “B” (a GPA of 2.95/ 4.00 scale or higher) for all completed undergraduate courses or a grade point of “B+” (a GPA of 3.45/4.00) for all courses completed in the candidate’s major field of study are encouraged to apply.

- The Information Sessions will be held by current ATF Special Agents/Recruiters where answers to your questions will be answered in regard to ATF, our mission, our duties, what to expect in the hiring process, the academy and on the job. You can also go to www.ATF.gov for general information, in regard to the requirements for becoming a Special Agent, the ATF in general, and the hiring process.
