** Important information about this position**

  • This is a grant-funded position. The current grant runs from October 1, 2022 – September 30, 2023. Continued employment in this position is contingent upon annual renewal (October 1, 2023 – September 2024) of grant funding.
  • Work hours: This position will be assigned to one of three shifts (8:00am – 4:30pm, 8:30am – 5:00pm, or 9:00am – 5:30pm)- Monday through Friday. The exact hours will be determined at the time of hire.
  • This position is not eligible for tele-work and must be performed in person.

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office is seeking a Client Assistance Specialist to work with the Family Justice Center (FJC) Director and FJC Program Manager in the Sheriff’s Office to provide a full range of services, information and resources to domestic violence victims.

About the position:

The Client Assistance Specialist will be given an active caseload through outreach assignments, calls into the Center, and walk-in clients to the Center. Casework responsibilities include but are not limited to: conducting needs assessments, conducting danger assessments, providing comprehensive safety planning, informing clients about various civil and criminal legal processes, and providing referrals to appropriate resources through partnerships maintained within the FJC network of providers.

This position requires collaboration with both law enforcement and human services entities to provide coordinated interventions and assistance to victims. This position requires the ability to maintain detailed records and statistics on all casework.

If the candidate selected for this position possesses multi-lingual skills, s/he will be required to successfully pass an examination assessing oral communication, reading comprehension, and interpreting skills. Additional Employment Information

Minimum Qualifications

Experience: One (1) year of experience in human services that involved substantive client contact and service delivery through direct assistance or referral. This experience must have included ability to communicate effectively across a wide range of cultures and overcome potential barriers to service. Experience must have required knowledge of the dynamics of trauma and victimization.

Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree.

Equivalency: An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
