Last chance to apply for spring graduation--THIS FIRDAY!
4.
Spring Graduation
Students
who anticipate graduating in Spring 2015 MUST apply for graduation by Friday,
February 6, 2015. Students apply for graduation online through Testudo
at: http://testudo.umd.edu/.
More information about the Spring 2015 commencement ceremonies will be
posted on the commencement website (http://www.commencement.umd.edu/),

Summer
Graduates:
If you are planning to finish your course work in the summer, please DO NOT
apply for spring graduation. Summer graduates can apply for graduation
while registering for summer courses. Summer registration begins February
17, 2015. If you are planning to graduate in the summer, please be
advised there is no formal university or departmental graduation ceremony in
the summer. Students planning to graduate in the summer can request to
"walk" in the spring CCJS departmental graduation ceremony.
During the departmental ceremony, graduates will have their name called and
walk across the stage in regalia. Summer graduates' names will NOT
appear in either the university or departmental program booklets. If you
would like to walk in the Spring 2015 ceremony as a summer graduate, please
contact Dr. Stickle (wstickle@umd.edu) AFTER you have
registered for your remaining summer courses and no later than Friday, April
17, 2015. In the e-mail, please provide your full name, UID, email
address and please list the subject as “Spring 2015 Walk List.”
USG's New Entry Road and Shuttle-UM-Stop Location Change
Good afternoon, USG Community;
On the morning of Monday, February
9th, USG will have accomplished the first phase of our growth
plans. The new and improved entrance to USG from Shady Grove Road
will be open for business, and the old entrance will be permanently
closed. This will allow us to begin construction of the new parking
garage at the corner of Shady Grove & Darnestown Roads. Traffic using
the new entrance road will be regulated by a new traffic light at the Shady
Grove Road intersection, although it may not initially be in operation.
Improvements on the entranceway will continue through the spring, so as
you use the roadway keep an eye out for beautiful new landscaping, new campus
signage, the new bus stop, and a final coat of new asphalt to complete the
project.
Shuttle-UM riders will be pleased to hear that on February 9th
we’ll be moving the Shuttle-UM bus stop (route #124) location to the new
entranceway and closer to campus buildings (see the aerial photo,
above). Shuttle-UM buses will reverse the direction they drive through
the campus and will pick up and drop off passengers as they enter USG from
Shady Grove Road. Buses will load and unload at the newly constructed bus
stop pad which was added as part of the entrance construction.

Schedule Adjustment ends this FRIDAY!
Schedule Adjustment/Registration
January
26, 2015 through February 6, 2015 is the schedule adjustment period. During
this time frame, students may add and drop classes without it affecting their
transcript. Schedule adjustment is also the beginning of
waitlist/holdfile check-in. If you are on a waitlist/holdfile for any
course, you must check-in daily or else you will be dropped from the
waitlist/holdfile. Once you are dropped from the waitlist/holdfile, there
is no way to regain your previous position, regardless of the
circumstances.
Friday,
February 6, 2015 is the last day of schedule adjustment. After February
6, 2015, students will not be able to add or drop courses. Additionally,
all waitlists will end on February 6. If you were waitlisted for a class,
but did not gain access to the course through the waitlist, we can NOT
oversubscribe you into the course. There are NO exceptions to this
policy.
