GIS Internship with the Chesapeake Bay Foundation
During the 10-week internship, the GIS Intern will work with the GIS Program Manager to provide geospatial data, mapping, and spatial analysis services to the organization. The GIS Intern will provide support for a roadside ditch mapping and prioritization project, as well as other projects as they arise.
Essential Functions
Creating Maps and Mapping Applications
• Use ESRI GIS software to create compelling static and interactive maps
• Customize web mapping applications to enhance CBF’s web presence and communicate our work with the public
Conducting Spatial Analysis
• Use spatial analysis tools to analyze CBF data and other sources of raster and vector data
• Includes the use of a variety of ArcGIS Desktop toolsets including Spatial Analyst
Administrative Support
• Assist in administering CBF’s ArcGIS Online site
• Provide technical support to staff as needed
Professional Experience and Qualifications
The successful candidate will have at taken at least 2 GIS courses and have a degree or be working toward a degree in Geography, Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Earth Science, or a related field. The candidate must have experience working with ESRI’s ArcGIS software.
