Academy for Public Policy Analysis and Research – Applications Now Open for 2021 Program!
The Policy Academies seeks a small cohort of bright, enthusiastic, and motivated college juniors majoring in the social sciences (Public Policy, Sociology, Economics, Political Science, etc.) who have the aptitude for research for their 2021 Academy Fellowship Program. Students must also have both a strong interest in U.S. domestic social policies affecting low and moderate-income individuals, and a demonstrated commitment to so social justice.
The Academy begins with an intensive 10-week summer training program coordinated with host partner the Urban Institute. The Academy Fellowship offers a unique and challenging program of knowledge-building, research skills-training, career development, and mentoring for undergraduates interested in advancing racial equity and economic justice through public policy analysis and research.
To qualify, students must:
- Be full-time college students
- Be rising seniors (Have completed their junior year by the summer of 2021 and have an expected graduation date of Spring 2022)
- Major in a social science discipline
- Be from an underrepresented racial or ethnic group in public policy, historically racially-exploited community and/or show demonstrated commitment to and involvement in working to improve policy outcomes for historically exploited racial and ethnic groups and/or underrepresented communities.
- Be a US citizen, permanent legal resident, or DACA recipient
- Have a minimum 3.0 GPA (out of 4.0)
- Must be committed to and demonstrate an interest in pursuing a professional career associated with public policy analysis and research such as government, think tanks, nonprofits, policy advocacy organizations, philanthropy, and/or universities.
