Summer 2021 Research Assistant Internship w/ Philadelphia District Attorney
The District Attorney’s Office (DAO) of Philadelphia's Transparency Analytics (DATA) Lab is currently accepting applications for their Research Assistant Internship. DATA Lab is a newly formed unit at the Philadelphia DAO that works to increase public transparency and the accessibility of criminal justice data for all community stakeholders. Students will work in a collaborative environment with attorneys, analysts, and researchers, and have the opportunity to interact with people throughout the office and Philadelphia while engaging in cross-cutting work.
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Assisting with the creation, maintenance, and entry of data into large databases
- Writing memos summarizing DATA Lab data and research projects, criminal justice policies and policies in other jurisdictions, or extant research scholarship relevant to our local criminal justice system
- Conducting preliminary analysis of data to inform potential projects, policies, and partnerships
- Supporting community engagement events, criminal justice reform, and implementation of data-driven policy
- Applying skills offered by individual interns in service to DAO and DATA Lab’s work, developing new skills
- Special projects as needed by DATA Lab or requested by the DA or other unit leaders/supervisors
