"A Seat at the Table: Stories and Lessons from UMD Alumni" is a new series featuring alumni from the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences at the University of Maryland, representing an array of industries and organizations. This series focuses on what it means to have a "seat at the table?" How does one get there? Who are your table guests? And how do you use your voice and influence within your organization once at the table? This month's program will focus on Black Professionals. Our participating panel will anecdotally discuss their career trajectory, experiences in the workplace- particularly in light of events in the last year- and share how they have maneuvered tough situations and conversations, sponsored and given agency to colleagues and students coming up, and address how to use your voice and position of power within the workplace and beyond.
Panelists:
Dr. Rashawn Ray | Professor of Sociology and Executive Director of the Lab for Applied Social Science Research (Moderator)
