House of Ruth Maryland is a comprehensive domestic violence program servicing victims of domestic violence throughout the State of Maryland. The Domestic Violence Legal Clinic provides legal information, referrals, lethality assessment, safety planning, and representation to victims of domestic violence, primarily in Baltimore City, Baltimore County, Prince George’s County, and Montgomery County.
The
Legal Advocate provides first contact to victims of domestic
violence seeking legal services, including protective orders and family law
representation. The Legal Advocate provides legal information, referrals, and
advocacy to clients. The Legal Advocate
conducts an intake with each client, obtaining demographic information, a
description of recent and prior abuse incidents, and details about the relief
requested in the client’s legal case, conducts a lethality assessment and
creates a safety plan with each client.
The Legal Advocate provides referrals to social services, housing and
shelter assistance, mental health care services, and other crisis intervention
services.
This is an entry level position. All training will be provided. We currently have a vacancy for a legal
advocate in the Catonsville (Baltimore County) District Court and for a bilingual (Spanish and
English) legal advocate in the Hyattsville (Prince George’s County) District
Court.
