Federal/Global Semester Program

Federal/Global Semester Program Want college credit for an internship in Washington D.C.?  Interested in Homeland Security and/or global policy issues? Intrigued by the idea of public service? Apply now to UMD’s Federal Semester Programor Global Semester in Washington, D.C.!  Apply by April 6 for first round consideration!  Join a lively, engaged, and motivated student community!  In both programs students take a fall-semester seminar from expert practitioners in one of several concentrations including Homeland Security, U.S. Diplomacy, and Global Challenges. Past internship locations include the Department of Homeland Security, the House Committee on Homeland Security, Helios Global, and the Center for the Study of Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism (START).  Year-round activities include trips to Capitol Hill and federal agencies, professional development workshops, and conversations with policymakers. The programs also feature one-on-one assistance in writing resumes, obtaining internships, etc. Students who successfully complete program requirements will earn a notation on their transcript!
