Paid Summer College Internship in Intergenerational Field
DOROT is a nonprofit organization based in New York City. Our goal and mission is to alleviate the social isolation felt by older adults by bringing the generations together. DOROT offers an 11-week Summer College Internship for undergraduate students entering their sophomore, junior and senior years of study in the Intergenerational Program Engagement Department. This unique internship experience will find interns working and collaborating together and with DOROT staff and other facilitators on intergenerational programming which they will deliver to cohorts of older adults and teens. A total of 6 interns will be selected for this highly competitive internship opportunity.
Program Details
DOROT’s Summer College Internship will begin with orientation on Wed. and Thurs., June 1 and 2. This orientation is mandatory and will run 9am-5pm on both days. The internship will conclude on Thurs., Aug. 18. Interns will work Mon. – Thurs. – 9am/9:30am – 5pm/5:30pm (exact times, by week will be determined and shared with interns in advance) and Fri. – 9am-4pm. The DOROT offices will be closed on Mon., June 6 and Mon., July 4. At the successful conclusion of the summer, each intern will receive a stipend in the amount of $4,200.

To apply, candidates must send their resumes to Sharon Stahl, Coordinator of College and Adult Volunteers at sstahl@dorotusa.org and complete DOROT’s 2022 Summer Internship Application. Acceptances will be awarded on a modified rolling basis until all positions have been filled. Only candidates who submit complete applications and resumes will be considered.
Internship Description
Summer College Interns are an integral part of the Intergenerational Program Engagement team which plans, organizes and facilitates the Summer Teen Internship Program. These interns will provide impactful, high-quality intergenerational experiences for teens and older adults. Interns assigned to this department should be prepared to help coordinate daily internship scheduling, outreach to older adults to register their participation as well as plan and organize and co-facilitate programming and “outings”.
