Route 1 Apparel fundraiser tomorrow @ USG!

Many of you have seen the Route One Apparel . USG did a fundraiser during Graduation Celebration with the first set of merchandise, and on September 1, we will be doing another fundraiser for our current student population. 

All Route One Apparel is MD flag themed. We have an array of items, and the picture below shows a few of those. We also have a bunch of tshirts for sale, decals, etc.

The West Virginia Division of Justice and Community Services, Office of Research and Strategic Planning in the Department of Military Affairs and Public Safety is recruiting. Applications for Research Specialist I positions are currently being accepted.

Temporary Program Assistant – Global Programs, for Recent Grad Interested in Travel to India


Vital Voices Global Partnership, an international non-governmental organization committed to advancing women's leadership in the areas of economic empowerment, human rights and political participation, seeks a talented professional with experience in logistical program planning and implementation for the position of Temporary Program Assistant from September, 2016-November, 2016.
Reporting directly to the Senior Program Coordinators for the Fortune/U.S. State Department Global Women's Mentoring Program and the Global Ambassadors Program, the Temporary Program Assistant would assist in the program planning for the Australia Global Ambassadors Program occurring in October and the program planning and implementation for the Fortune Program's International Alumnae Component to be held in November in India. The Program Assistant would ideally start on September 1st and work through mid-November. He/she will assist in the planning of the Global Ambassadors Program through September and the Fortune Program through October as well as travel to India in early November for the program implementation.
Specific responsibilities include:
  • Assisting with the coordination of the international airfare, lodging and airport transfers for program participants, staff and consultants for both the Global Ambassadors and Fortune Programs
  • Coordinating arrangement with vendors, such as ground transportation, tour companies and restaurants for the Fortune Program
  • Developing and editing all materials for both programs
  • Supporting the Senior Program Coordinator for the Fortune Program during the execution of the International Alumnae Component in November in India
  • Taking comprehensive notes and photos during the International Alumnae Component, and utilizing social media, such as Facebook and Twitter, to document the experience
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Interest in and knowledge of global women's issues, international development and/or women's leadership
  • Bachelor's degree in international development or a related field is required. Relevant work experience is a plus.
  • Experience in coordinating logistics for programs, including travel, accommodations, etc.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and manage your time
  • Team player with a commitment to seeing a project through to successful completion
  • Strong organizational skills and administrative capabilities
  • Excellent writing and editing skills
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Computer literacy (Excel and document formatting skills preferred)
  • Social media competency
  • Must be able to travel internationally to India for one week in early November for the Fortune Program (travel and business-related expenses will be paid by Vital Voices)
This position is a full-time, temporary, non-exempt position based in Washington, DC.Vital Voices does not provide work visa sponsorship or relocation assistance for this position.

Intern for UNICRI


Interested in interning abroad? The United Nations Interrogational Crime and Justice Research Institute (UNICRI) have 12 internship openings available at headquarters in Turin and the Liason Office in Rome, Italy.

Program Assistant Position with Macfadden in Silver Spring for Recent Grad

Position Summary:
The United States Office of Foreign Disaster Assistance Operations Division is seeking a Program Operations Assistant for a six-month assignment providing additional administrative support in order to continue to make progress on several office-wide and Ops Division initiatives. The individual will provide support for the following portfolios initially, but responsibilities may be expanded as other needs emerge: Multiple Response Staffing, OFDA planning initiative, and Ops project and task management software. This position will last a term of six (6) months.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Review MRS data and assist with consolidation and clean-up of files, including creating consistency across MRS reports
  • Consolidate MRS data into aggregated tracking spreadsheets.
  • Support MRS pledging meeting by assisting with scheduling, handouts, and note taking during meeting.
  • Schedule OFDA planning initiative meetings, take notes, and distribute notes to working group members.
  • Establish and maintain central repository for planning working group documents. 
  •  Review planning training catalogue and develop a matrix which describes the different options for comparison and review.
  • Coordinate with Asana customer support to schedule trainings and business use case assistance for Ops teams.
  •  Review Asana protocols and check in with Ops teams on progress, assistance needed, additional support requirements, and update protocol documentation as needed.

Education: BA/BS completion.


Experience: 1 year of professional/office experience, including internships.

Skills: Must be able to meet deadlines and multitask, have strong attention to detail, and work well with others in a fast-paced and demanding environment. Working knowledge in MS Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel required. Must be well organized with superior attention to detail.

Citizenship is required; selected candidate must be able to qualify for a government sponsored security clearance.

About the Managed Nonprofit Organizations
 
Arabella Advisors provides operations and management support to multiple public charities, including a 501(c)(3) named the New Venture Fund and a 501(c)(4).  These managed organizations house new and innovative public interest projects and nonprofits, as well as coordinate collaborative initiatives between donors and administer grants programs. Essential Responsibilities
 
Project Support (60-70%)
  • Support the team’s management of a large portfolio of fiscally sponsored and incubated projects
    • Maintain up-to-date project data and information in various technology systems, including Salesforce. Ensure documents and information are up to date on various technology systems and platforms, including client-facing intranet websites and Salesforce platforms. 
    • Enter projects and budgets into time-tracking system and provide reports to managers.
    • Ensure project electronic files are organized and up-to-date.
    • Produce reports from project data systems to identify, locate and correct missing or erroneous project information. Assist with team-wide data gathering and measurement of key indicators.
    • Maintain and organize team process and procedure documents, including templates, on all platforms, ensuring version control.
    • Coordinate logistics for client and project meetings.
  • Support grant and contract management processes
    • Manage the signatory process, ensuring that documents are signed in a timely fashion.
    • Assist with preparation of subgrant dockets, such as running OFAC checks, drafting agreements, etc.
    • Enter grant, contribution, subgrant and contract information into Salesforce.
  • Support project financial management
    • Research unidentified donations to determine appropriate project designation, including contacting donors.
    • Submit payment requests, ensuring accurate coding and documentation.
    • Download and format monthly project financial reports, including transaction data, for account managers’ review.​​​
  • Support project human resources management
    • Facilitate the approval and hiring process for new employees, provide support in gathering documentation and managing data entry for processing new hires.
Administrative Support (~30-40%)
  • Contribute to the implementation of more efficient processes, systems and technology
  • Contribute to data gathering and measurement for business operation goals
  • Other administrative tasks and special projects as needed.
Essential Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience preferred
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

Administrative Specialist Position in Silver Spring with the Montgomery County Department of Recreation for Recent Grad


Closing Date: August 25, 2016

The Department of Recreation is looking for an Administrative Specialist I to provide support for the Management Services Team.  The employee will be accountable for providing administrative support for human resource functions, such as payroll, hiring, background screening, and record management. Additional functions will include supporting contract management which consists of maintaining compliance records, verifying vendor data in Oracle and with the State of Maryland, and reviewing vendor requests for payment. This position requires the handling of confidential documents and information.

Other duties include working directly with professional and para professional staff in the hiring and payroll processing of nearly 2,500 seasonal staff and hundreds of contractors and volunteers. Each year program schedules require the hiring and background investigations for nearly 800 seasonal employees. This position also assists with the processing of these employees. This employee monitors the preparation and processing of all necessary paperwork for hiring including State, County and federal documents, HCM and MCtime processing. Each pay period between 500 and 2,000 MCtime transactions are processed.

NOTE:  This work may require evening, weekend and holiday work.

The individual selected for this position will be considered an Essential Employee.  Essential employees must report to work during a period of general emergency or liberal leave.


Selected candidate will be required to complete a background investigation and medical evaluation prior to appointment.
