Entry-Level Paralegal Position with Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton


We seek a full-time paralegal to provide broad, responsive, and efficient support to our antitrust and litigation practice areas. Under the direction of partners, associates, and senior paralegals, and under the general supervision of the US Records and Washington Paralegals Lead, our paralegals assist with all aspects of client and case support on a variety of innovative, complex, and often highly visible matters. Successful candidates will have superior organizational and time management skills; effective problem-solving skills; a positive, professional demeanor; and a strong client service focus.

Position: Nonexempt

Regular Hours: 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Reports to: US Records and Washington Paralegals Lead

Responsibilities

  • Assists with all aspects of document production, document management, pleadings preparation and filings
  • Assists with all document preparation and distribution including, but not limited to, ancillary documents; signature pages; notes; checklists; receipts; closing memoranda; indices; correspondence; charts; and resolutions
  • Assists with incorporation/formation of new entities, dissolution of entities, and amendments to corporate documents
  • Performs general corporate housekeeping tasks such as issuing stock certificates, maintaining minute books, qualifying corporations in foreign jurisdictions, and filing various corporate documents
  • Performs due diligence reviews, assists at financial printer offices, and files documents with governmental agencies
  • Prepares for, manages, and attends corporate closing, hearings, arbitrations, and trials

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with a strong academic record
  • Flexibility to work outside regular business hours, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends as needed
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, deliver results, and maintain quality while working under pressure in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment
  • Ability to work effectively on own initiative and in collaboration with others
  • Ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
  • Demonstrated proficiency and experience with broad range of computer software including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Strong research skills and excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Foreign language skills are a plus
