Immigration Campaign Internship with Community Change



Community Change builds the power and capacity of low-income people, especially low-income people of color, to lead powerful and dynamic movements for social change. With our community-based partner groups, we bridge the grassroots and the national.


This position also supports Community Change Action , an affiliated 501(c)(4) advocacy organization. While motivated by the same core values – equity, inclusion, and justice – Community Change and Community Change Action operate independently of one another and each organization has its own board of directors.


Position Description:
The Part-time Immigration Campaign Intern will work with the Immigration staff, and report directly to the Immigration Campaign Program Coordinator. The ideal intern is detail-orientated with great interpersonal skills, flexibility, humor, good judgment, and able to jump in and support the team with needed projects and reports in an effective manner. The intern will be responsible for producing excellent weekly reports on field work.
Scheduling is ideally Monday and Fridays, but can be flexible with intern’s availability.


Principal Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate and oversee the tracking for the Communities Against Hate collaborative project.
  • Support central projects and centralized tactics as needed
  • Support immigration policy related campaign work
  • Work in coordination with field and DC staff on event and action planning and implementation
  • C4 Unite the Vote work
Qualifications:
  • Ability to write and edit reports on short deadlines
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of immigration policy and  community organizing a plus
  • Demonstrated commitment to social justice and progressive social change
  • Commitment to economic, race and gender justice essential
This position reports to: Deputy Field Director, Immigration


Stipend: transportation stipend of $2,000 for the entire internship is provided to offset commuting costs.


This position is located in Washington, DC.
