Are you a creative thinker? Read on for cool opportunities!

AgeTech Hackathon
Friday, December 9th, 2022
10:00 am - 2:00pm
Building IV, Room 1201
$5,000 top prize!

The aging care industry is one of the fastest growing in the United States as the baby boomers begin to represent an increasingly larger segment of the elderly population. Addressing this issue, the students will form an interdisciplinary collaboration to envision and create an exhibit of technologies that support older people in their homes.

The Hackathon is presented by University Startups, The Entrepreneurship Lab at USG, and in collaboration with iTAP (Information Technology for the Aging Person) from the College of Information Studies (UMD iSchool).

What is a hackathon? Normally, a hackathon is an event in which a large number of people meet to engage in collaborative computer programming (Hacking marathon). In our case, we apply the word "hack" to mean the creative process and thinking innovatively. Therefore, no technical experience is required! Each team will be asked to think about the prompt, create a solution in the time allotted, and then create a presentation featuring a prototype. Each team will present its solution to the judge.
