PRISM (NDU Journal on Security Issues) Needs Spring Interns


PRISM, the National Defense University’s (NDU) premier journal on complex security issues, is seeking a small cohort of spring interns to support forthcoming issues which will focus on Europe, Africa, and Special Operations. The team is looking for interns from diverse academic backgrounds, including those in the fields of International Relations, Political Science, Security Studies, International Development, and Conflict Resolution, Journalism, and Public Affairs.
While internships are unpaid, some other benefits include: automatic membership with NDU’s Young Professionals Community, invitations to internal events at various centers throughout the university (e.g., seminars, workshops, conferences, etc.), access to the NDU library, and the opportunity to network with members of the NDU community. Eligibility
• U.S. citizenship (due to security requirements)
• Current graduate or undergraduate student from an accredited U.S. university or college with at least 3.0 GPA
• Available during the following periods:  
§ Start Date: between mid-March and April 1 
§ End Date: between May 29 and June 30 (possibility for extension) 

• Positions will be filled on a rolling basis so please apply as early as possible.
General Responsibilities
• Proofreading
• Formatting articles
• General publication assistance
• Maintaining distribution lists
• Subscriber relations management
• Part-time (typically ≈24 hrs/wk)
Desired Qualifications
• Strong research background
• Excellent writing skills
• Attention to detail
• Computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office)
• Interns must be able to work independently and multi-task effectively with minimal supervision.

§ Résumé 
§ Cover Letter, indicating preferred start and end dates 
§ Research-focused writing sample (any length) 
§ Transcripts from both graduate and undergraduate studies (photocopies/unofficial accepted) OR 
§ Proof of registration for upcoming semester
