New USG Parking Procedures Coming --PLEASE READ

Please read letter below from USG:

Dear USG Faculty, Staff and Students,

You may have heard about changes coming to parking at USG that will begin with the Fall 2016 semester.  I’d like to take this opportunity to inform you about some changes that will be coming, so you know what to expect over the next few months.

Over the years, student enrollment at USG has grown from 2,000 to more than 4,000.  The physical campus also continues to grow and soon USG will break ground on a new Biomedical Sciences and Engineering Education (BSE) Facility on parking lot 2.  New campus buildings, increased student enrollment, and increased staff and faculty requirements have highlighted the pressing need to transition from a passive parking program to an active parking program at USG.

This need has led to the decision to partner with the University of Maryland, College Park to create a new USG Parking and Transportation Services office.  This  newly created office  will be responsible for managing all parking and transportation activities for the USG campus.  This includes ensuring available and predictable parking for our campus community as well as alternatives to driving single occupancy vehicles.  One of the first steps in this process is the formation of the USG Parking and Transportation Advisory Committee.  This committee is made up of faculty, staff and student representatives and will recommend policies and procedures while serving as a conduit between the USG community and USG’s Executive Director’s Office.

Over the remaining course of the semester, and throughout the summer, you will notice our new USG Parking and Transportation staff on campus making themselves available to talk about the upcoming parking changes and answer your questions.  They can also be reached atusgtransportation@umd.edu if you have feedback or concerns . As the advisory committee makes decisions and recommendations, additional updates will be provided via email.

Thank you,

§  Karen
