UMD Police Communications Officer (Full-Time)



The University of Maryland Department of Public Safety at College Park is the only non-county organization State-wide to operate a full service 911 Emergency Communications Center.

The Police Communications Operator facilitates officer safety by monitoring police radio transmissions and utilizing all communications equipment. An employee in this position performs communications activities necessary for providing emergency and non-emergency police services to the general public. Work involves receiving, prioritizing, and determining the appropriate disposition of incoming calls from the public, UMPD staff, and other agencies; dispatching UMD officers and relaying information over radio, telephone, and computer systems; querying, entering, and updating information in electronic record management systems; greeting and assisting station visitors; and answering questions and addressing concerns regarding agency programs, operations, and related services.

Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED AND Two years clerical or other related experience. Applicants must submit to and successfully pass a comprehensive background investigation.
