Week of #UMDSolidarity

TUESDAY: TEACH-IN
June 2
6-7:30 p.m. EST
Zoom
"Still Troubled: The Lynching of George, Breonna, Ahmaud, and Tony—A Teach-In"
About the teach-in: This moderated teach-in focuses on the recent killings by police of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, and Tony McDade. Panelists will discuss the history of U.S. police lynching of African Americans, current information about these and other recent murders, and organizing actions individuals and communities can take in support of #BlackLivesMatter, #SayTheirNames, and other anti-racist coalitions. Coordinated by Community and Justice Studies at Guilford College. For more information, contact Christian Matheis at matheiscg@guilford.edu
What is a teach-in? It's an informal classroom setting where urgent educational information is provided around social issues and events that have risen to capture public attention. The goal of the teach-in is to both provide a forum for informed discussion and to work with the pace of current events by helping to direct confusion, misinformation, disorganized reactions, etc. toward focused and socially just, liberatory outcomes.
Zoom Access Info: Join using meeting ID: 955 9195 2087. Your Zoom profile must have an identifiable first and last name for the moderators to admit you to the meeting. All are welcome to attend, but there is a limit of 300 participants.
