How You Will Be Evaluated:

·         Your application will be rated on the extent and quality of your experience, education and training and associated competencies relevant to the duties of the position. All applicants are evaluated on competencies related to law enforcement methods and techniques, protective methods and techniques, investigative methods and techniques, initiative, problem solving, attention to detail, learning, partnering, planning and organizing, and leadership.

·         All answers in the online questionnaire must be substantiated by your resume. Upon review, your resume and transcripts need to support your answer choices. Overstating your qualifications and/or experience in your application materials or on the application questionnaire may result in your removal from consideration.

·         After evaluating applications (resume, supporting documents and your answers to the online questionnaire), candidates will be rated as Qualified, Well Qualified, and Best Qualified.

Q. How will I know if I can qualify physically?

A. Pre-employment consists of a medical examination for advancement in the hiring process. Once hired, there are fitness standards outlined on the SecretService.Gov website and stated below which applicants need to meet:

A. Be at least 20 years of age at time of application and younger than 37 at the time of receipt of a conditional offer of employment to continue in the application process. Applicants with veterans’ preference must be at least 20 years of age at time of application and younger than 40 at the time of receipt of a conditional offer of employment to continue in the application process. Q. What education do you need to be competitive for the USSS as an agent or uniformed officer?

·         A college degree is not required to qualify for the Uniformed Division Officer position (a high school diploma or equivalent is required)

·         Although a college degree is not required for the Special Agent position, it is highly recommend due to keen competition
