Job Opportunity: We’re Hiring: Invite Students to Apply to The Literacy Lab!

Hi CCJS! I received this message--it looks like a great opportunity!

Hi Professor Stickle ,

I hope this message finds you well. I'm reaching out on behalf of The Literacy Lab, a local non-profit that places full-time tutors in historically-underserved schools to provide individualized reading instruction to students in pre-k through 3rd grade.

The Literacy Lab is an AmeriCorps partner program supporting schools in the DC Metro Area. During their one-year service term, tutors receive training and support, a modest cost-of-living stipend, health insurance, and are eligible for SNAP and childcare benefits if they choose to opt-in.

If you are willing, we would appreciate you sharing this information with students who might be interested in applying for the program. Students who are interested in education, non-profits, social justice, and/or taking a gap year might find our program to fit well into their post-graduate plans. They can learn more about our program at our website and apply to be a tutor for the 21-22 school year here.

Thank you,

Alexis Underwood
