In this program we
work closely with the Nanyang Technological University's International Center
for Political Violence and Terrorism Research Center and their
researchers, and we are putting together a fantastic itinerary and set of
guest lectures! The course overall focuses on radicalization and
deradicalization theories and programs that implement disengagement,
deradicalizaiton and Countering Violent Extremism programs in prisons and in
society writ large. Singapore is seen as a world leader in these pursuits,
and we travel there to hear from the experts from the
academic, government, and non-profit side of these programs and others
like them from across the Middle East and South East Asia!
This program is designed with busy students in mind. We know you
may already have a job or an internship lined up for the summer--or other
things you need to take care of, so spending 4-weeks abroad (while appealing)
may not be feasible. Because you aren't the only student in that position, we
built this program to your schedule's needs better. We are
in-country for 10 days, so you'll only have to miss about a week of work
or internship to participate. The coursework in advance of the trip and
afterward is all online and can be completed remotely.
More specifics on the program--like dates, costs, specific
activities we're currently working on, and how to apply can be found here.
